The Retreat House, Pleshey

The Retreat House is set is in the quiet historic village setting of Pleshey surrounded by the church and gardens.

The main structure is an interesting art and crafts building with some interesting internal oak details. There is also a gate house connected, which is a small grade II building. Both these buildings create some nice spaces for lodgings and quiet reflection and prayer. We are in the process of looking into re-ordering the interiors to provide some en-suite bathroom facilities. We are also looking at the possibility of designing a new oak framed and glazed entrance. This will be welcoming and enhance the arts and crafts detailing found throughout.

There is a pergola on the side adjacent to the gardens and we feel it would be nice to build an orangery here with a flowering green sedum roof that makes use of the existing oak posts and creates a light airy room in harmony with the gardens.
