Local Councils now commonly require listed building owners to have an historic building recorder undertake a report of the building’s history and construction. This will include phases of build, the building’s significances and heritage values, an impact assessment of any proposals and conservation policies. A recording will usually be required either before any proposals are considered in the case of Grade I and II*, or to support a listed building application or condition in the case of Grade II.
We can provide an historic building recording of your house or structure. This starts with a drawn and photographic survey, including plans and elevations; and involves historical research, maps and detailed written description.
Our Archaeological and historic reports are based on English Heritage’s “Understanding Historic Buildings: Policy and Guidance for Local Planning Authorities”.
