Kay Pilsbury Thomas Architects is a family Architectural & Interior Design Practice, established in 1985 by Kay and now run by her Daughter Sibyl. We love designing and building onto historic buildings, converting barns new and old and creating bespoke one-off new-build houses. We have an enthusiastic and very knowledgeable, tight-knit team of Designers, who have been carefully selected for their knowledge in historic buildings or bespoke new-builds.
We enjoy a fun close working relationship to understanding how you are using and how you would like to use your buildings. We like working out what wonderful buildings or elements might be possible and how your unique build can be created, improved, altered or extended, whilst also knowing what the Local Authority or Listed Building/Conservation Officers are likely to accept.
We have a vast knowledge of historic buildings, of all periods, and how they have evolved over the centuries and why they are important. This knowledge helps us suggest ways of altering or extending the building, without compromising on what makes it so significant. We have always worked with green and sustainable materials, craftsmanship and technologies and incorporate these into every project. Bespoke new-build one-off houses are always great fun to design and are completely tailored to you and your lifestyle, whilst ensuring they are beautifully additions to the countryside.
Taking your project from initial idea to a completed buildings is always a great adventure and we love working of all sorts of projects types both tiny and huge. We also have a network of traditional building contractors and specialist craftsmen capable of delivering results to a very high standard. Furthermore, we are able to recommend specialist local Historic Building Recorders, Archaeologists, Quantity Surveyors, Structural Engineers and Building Services Engineers whom we have worked extensively with for many years.
